Breathing Underwater: A Poetry Anthology

The Water Carrier

Sludgery

Manic mental state encourages me

to slide

slimy slicked back thoughts

moonwalking through my mind.

I’m popping bubbles and hosing

down these intrusions

lubricated laughs steam up my eyelashes

sticky

quick

brain fog

don’t rain on my parade

me through these wet cobbles

I’m a little slower through the liquor lens

Soak me in these suds

And hang me out to dry

A second skin

Fresh and squeaky clean.
